Grooved Flanges A grooved flange is an engineering product used to join two sections of pipe, tubing or other material. They are often used in situations where traditional flanges are not suitable due to space restrictions, or where they provide a stronger, more secure connection than a standard flange. They are used in many different industries, most notably in the Petrochemical, Power Generation and Marine industries. Grooved flanges are constructed from metal, metal alloys or plastics, depending on the requirements of the application. They have a series of shallow grooves which are machined into the flange and allow it to be connected to another piece of pipe or other material without the need for welding. The grooves are designed to accept O-ring gaskets or compression seals which create a tight, reliable join.
