Explanation of SS ERW Pipe Stainless Steel Electric Resistance Welded (SS ERW) Pipes are widely used for their superior strength, corrosion resistance and long life. They are the most common type of pipe used in structural and piping applications. The process of manufacturing SS ERW pipes involves passing metal strip or plate through rollers and depending on the specific metal, a “T” shaped cross section is formed. Unlike seamless pipes which can be formed by clenching metal pipes in a huge press, SS ERW pipes are formed by drawing metal sheets through a die. This process yields pipes that are thicker than those formed using the seamless process and more economical as a result due to their lesser material requirements.
