Ball Valves What is a Ball Valve? A ball valve is a mechanism used to control or stop the flow of a liquid or gas. It consists of a spherical disc or ball that is perforated with a centralized hole. When the ball is in line with both the inlet and outlet, the flow is unobstructed and thus allows the liquid or gas to pass through. When the ball is rotated 90 degrees, the hole becomes perpendicular to the inlet and outlet, blocking the passage of fluid and preventing its flow.
