What is a Steam Jacketed Ball Valve? A steam jacketed ball valve is a type of valve designed for the control of steam and other fluids in fluid systems. This type of valve is characterized by its curved body and its ability to “jack” or prevent the flow of steam or other fluids. It achieves this by using its curved body to block the flow and redirect it elsewhere. How Does It Work? The steam jacketed ball valve is composed of three major components – a body, a disc and a stem. The curved body of the valve is coupled with a disc that pivots when the stem is actuated. When the stem is turned, it rotates the disc, the curved body of the valve forms a semi-circle around the disc to block the flow and redirect it in the desired direction.
